I have started to experiment myself with different styles. At college we have different software and equipment available. I have been using a rostrum and a canon 550D to create simple stop frame animations. I found that ‘I can animate’ is a good program but its worth investing into ‘DragonFrame‘ as it allows for much more advanced control of the camera through your computer. They both work in real time by simply connecting the camera to the computer with a USB. ‘Dragonframe’ has some really useful functions that allow you to control your camera using the program. What i like about DragonFrame is that you get a USB remote control that makes it really easy to use. The good thing is you don’t have to have the remote to use the program as the shortcut are all on your keyboard. You can also change the ISO and shutter-speed in the program.
DragonFrame (£185) – is more expensive than ‘I can animate’ (£30) but seems worth it.
